Welcome,
My name is Craig A. Stevens, some people call me the Flags of America Artist. Thank you for your interest in learning more about me and my team of supporters. I have a passion for sharing the stories of our heroes.
Our mission is to support those who serve and protect the rest of us by showing the sacrifices made by our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, their families, and those who love them. Their stories resonate on some level with each of us who love our country and the courage of the few. However, we often never hear of the history being made daily by these heroes.
I use the flags to represent the people, not the government. This is a fact most protestors will never think about. "We the People" have withstood many trials and tribulations through the course of our nation's history, from the early days of our nation to 9-11, to recent events in our own country and around the world.
You may have seen the palette paintings. When I paint, I use smaller canvases as my palettes. Often one larger painting will have more than one of these. When the original piece of art is complete, I turn those palettes into paintings themselves. These are great complementary original pieces of art related to the image found in a giclee print. The palette paintings are often very popular and sell well. It is a less expensive way to own an original.
I have several series that I am working on. My America Remembers series is an ongoing endeavor. I am painting a state flag with that state's fallen heroes for every state in the USA. And what that painting will look like is quite a spontaneous decision, sometimes made as late as when I apply the first brushstroke to the canvas.
I am doing a series for those who have died because of 911 and another series of the different countries that represent the heritages of this country's melting pot.
You may have noticed that I have other artwork that deviates from our flag theme and several experiments with different styles. That is because I am also a writer, and I created art based on the personalities of two characters from one of my books, Geronimo Stone, that can be found on Amazon. Geronimo Stone uses Palette knives and creates rough-looking cityscapes, while his wife, Brenda Stone, paints more realistic landscapes.
I am also a member of the Civil Air Patrol, with two sons in the Air Force, and a family history of servicemen. So you will see artwork that reflects those who serve in the military.
Often, my work is based on God's creation and my love of Jesus and His people. The landscapes bring back memories of times spent growing up with a farm and spending time in nature. No matter the inspiration, it is a mission of mine to make a difference in the world through my actions, both on canvas and off.
Thanks for stopping by,
Craig
